I can't send out. I can only send internally at this point. I get that
error from the SMTP server every time I send out. We just noticed that
this server is not configured as a relay...oops...We will try that and I
bet that fixes it. Ken, thanks a million for your help! Very nice.

You're inside the network so you are most likely not a good test subject
to see if it's working. I still haven't received it as of yet. Check the
logs to see if you have anything on the one you sent me.

Ok, just sent one to you Ken with http://
It worked sending it to myself using authentication.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. Unable to relay is def. an error coming
from the SMTP server. What is the SMTP server you are using? Is it the
IIS Virtual SMTP server or is it Exchange you're connecting to or what?
Does it require authentication? Is the mail server set to allow your web
server to relay? Try using the connection information in the tag to
override that in the cfadmin and do this:

<cfmail to="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" from="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
server="your.mailserver.com" username="anAuthUser"
password="thatUsersPassWord">
<a href="http://www.yahoo.com";>Click me</a>
</cfmail>

Use your own user name and pw, just so we know for sure that it's not
failing to login.

Let's see how that goes.

Note: I do have Norton installed on the server, I unchecked Enable
Internet E-mail Auto-Protect and have disabled Norton itself. After I
did that I fired off this code:
<cfmail to="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" from="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
subject="Employee Recognition Certification Information" type="HTML">
        <a href="www.truth.com">Click Here</a>
</cfmail>

and a .cfmail file went into C:\CFusionMX\Mail\Undelivr and in the CF
admin page the Log Viewer said: Invalid Addresses; nested exception is:
javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I fired off the same code and changed the email address to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and I received the email np.

I then fired off the same code to [EMAIL PROTECTED] adding http:// and
nothing went into C:\CFusionMX\Mail\Undelivr and nothing in the CF admin
log viewer.

There you have it, I think that's the scenario.

Only Ron's emails are working fine until he adds the "http://"; into the
url in his href. That's certainly the strangest bit.

Something very similar happened to us on Windows Server 2003 when we
upgraded Macafee--it had some mass mailer protection that basically
shut everything down and it was a bit difficult to track down.
