XP SP2 wreaks all sorts of havoc for some folks--there's lots of info about the workarounds on macromedia.com but some people claim none of these work. I have SP2 and got lucky because I didn't have any issues. Lots of people who had problems and got them resolved did so through the info on macromedia.com as well as messing with the firewall settings.
People with Norton Internet Security installed seem to be screwed, however--that stuff sounds evil. :-)

Yeah, on my desktop at work I've had no problem with XP Pro and IIS with CFMX 7 (standard install). The problem comes when I install it on my new Dell laptop with XP Pro. Any install option results in the connector being unable to connect to IIS. The internal web server works fine, though.

That's weird--on my development XP machines I always do the multi- instance install and use the JRun connector to hook into IIS and haven't ever had any trouble with it. I'll have to read up on these so I'm aware of what the issues are. I can say that using CFMX 7 on JRun with IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 is a really stable setup, or at least it has been for my company.

I DID used to have your JRUN problem on our production server (Win2K with CFMX 6.1), but I haven't seen it recently. The fix for that involved editing the jvm config. I believe the answer was on Sarge's website. It was an obscure place to find the fix, but a lot of people had that error. Macromedia released a few hotfixes that were supposed to fix it, but only Sarge's fix helped me.

Hey Tim,
Well, yes I have it running, but I HAVE had several issues, the largest of
which is Jrun hanging at 99% processor utilization and nuking my machine.
The JRUN process resisted all of my feeble attempts to kill it, even using
kill.exe and pkill.exe (sysinternals.com) were to no avail. I would have to
restart the laptop when this happened, and it happened too frequently.
Could you please provide the link the to XP CF70 Thread you mentioned? I
would like to read through it.
Thanks, Dirk
