The idea of the counterfeit GN Drives has been speculated on, though. Ian (I
think that's his name) announced that they were unshielded, which begs the
question, "What needs to be shielded?" Nene's beam weapon evidently screwed up
Louise at a cellular level, and it's possible that this is a result of the GN
Drive that powers it. And Graham's decision to stick with the Overflag
certainly looks like he's being saved for something by the writers.

The one possible hang-up is that Sumeragi knew early on that lots of people
(probably on the order of millions or maybe even billions) were going to die as
a result of CB's actions. So I'm uncertain whether the deaths by themselves
would be a catalyst for the Ptolemais group to (figuratively speaking) jump
ship.

On the other hand, if the group discovers that there's another way to get
things done and that what they've been doing has been a planned subversion by
Corner or Ribbon to begin with, then that might motivate them to rebel.

Hmmm I am hoping that the 30 GN Drives are a giant trojan horse, and
CB/Veda is going to crack a big scheme (read: MILLIONS of deaths) on
the Big 3's head, maybe that's the cue for Ptolemais to rebel and go
indie. Hmm perhaps that would make a satisfactory ending for season
1.
