You mean like Bind? Or an external DNS service?
I am pulling my hair out! I was just checking out a newer DNS project
the other day. Some DNS server software similar to BIND, but not as big
or bloated, and I think a bit more secure. For the life of me I cannot
The prospects I see usually break out this way:
1. I am a geek and so want to host my own, and
difficulty and price of doing so, so long as it is controlled
by the geek, don't much matter
2. My needs are complex, and I HAVE / want to host my
own to integrate with other processes
3. I am a small time low needs user, and free for one
or two domains, or the dynamic dns folks, or whatever I get
from the registrar is good enough
We offer an adjunct 'all you can eat' DNS interface for $5 a
month, but not many people buy ** just ** that without also
buying other services. I know user type 1 and 3 will not be
buying from us; it is the other services the DNS supports
that provide value in the usual case
