Not sure about that. I am very much a fan of Android. However I do not see any Android based device replacing my laptop or desktop any time soon. Android cannot compete with a full blown Linux OS. There is still much to be desired. Being a Java developer, I can't say I am that impressed with Dalvik VM performance over all. Surely not to the point where I want every application I depend on to be running inside that VM. I do not like its memory management or other things. I much rather the Linux kernel deal with more of that. Pretty sure Google went that route to allow for more rapid application development, which comes at other costs, like runtime performance. I have no doubt if they used other languages the amount of applications in the market would be considerably less. Though hasn't seem to be a hindrance for others platforms. Its also why in some ways the iPhone can have better performance. Since its using a different language, and no VM that I am aware of. > Oh, and the evil empire Verizon wanting over $400 in termination fees didn't > help the situation. Most any carrier has disconnect fees if you are still under contract. That said Verizon does have the best network and is mostly if not entirely Cisco powered. Which should easily explain and justify any costs much less the networks performance. -- William L.
