Someone already created one

Also millions of users and businesses, though still many that have not,
and may never.

You created another? Good to be proactive, but googling or posting to
the list would reveal one existed already :)

Its not been around long enough to not be considered a necessity. Many
things we thing are not fads end up being just that. Myspace is an
example, which Google hopes to repeat with Google+. Even things like
Linked in are great. But Silicon Valley and most companies,
technologies, etc we depend on was created long before these things
existed.

Socialization is good, but I am not convinced its a necessity or makes
people more social in person. Much less the business benefits of it all.
To me all this socialization is a huge waste of time to an extent, and I
do coincide it with the downfall in our economy. Only revenue models are
advertising, and if your spending your time socializing, your not making
money to spend on things being advertised :)

Existing one has 42, and I have no idea who any admin is or who created
the page. I started getting email alerts at first, but have since
stopped those.

P.S.
I am not a non conformist, but like wrt to the LUG. There is a wiki,
mailing list, irc channel (which is totally empty most times), and also
a facebook page. I don't see any of that really increasing things much.
Just creating more to maintain and more dispersion of information in a
sense.

Though IRC is an ideal medium for socialization, and wrt to the LUG.
Really can't suffice for to much more other than the occasional real
time problem resolution. Not like its a project and people reporting
bugs, usage issues, etc. Mostly just socializing chatting, with fellow
LUGers. Where socialization takes place is moot, and could very well end
up in a chat on facebook vs irc channel. Same difference just change in
trends of what people are using ;)
