So I was going to stay out of the crap name calling and tantrums that appear to be what the JaxLUG is now (at least this week), but this last action pushed it over the line.
First let me say thank you William for all that you have done for the JaxLUG and you are right, it would not be where it is today without your efforts. Of course I feel that I do have to point out that you have reminded everyone of this in pretty much every email. I have been a member of this list since I moved to Jax 10 years ago and have watched it go through cycles. It is popular and its not. I find that it suits my needs and while I may not attend any of the meetings, I have presented so I believe I have helped some what and not just been a lurker. William, while I understand the irritation you may feel, removing someone from the list, even without banning them is childish and below you. If you want to step down, then step down and shut up. But unsubscribing someone from a list that you have already announced you were not going to deal with any more (I am ignoring that you have continued to post after saying that no one should reply to you as you were going to disappear basically.) could be construed as a malicious act and I could see a lawyer arguing that it violated some law. (Of course this would be an extreme and I would not agree with it.) All I can say is that I have lost what ever respect your running this group has gained you for an act that served absolutely no purpose. I hope that everyone just sits the heck down and we go back to being a group about linux where people can disagree. Kevin On Jul 15, 2011, at 8:30 PM, William L.
