HI I have used both and they are distinct products.

SaVision is a mapping tool
SquaredUP is a metrics solution.

Squared up is fantastic and in our upcoming SCOM 2012 deployment will be
deploying it. I do have some reservations about scale out as SCOM grows.

I would recommend both to enhance your scom deployment.

You have two major dashboarding solutions now:
https://www.savision.com/
http://squaredup.com/

Unfortunately, today SCOM lacks many features that are readily available in
other monitoring tools. While it is still a great product and integrates well
with other MS solutions, what I see lacking today is:

  * Good out-of-the-box dashboards that are accessible via web using
whathever device you have in your hand (ipad/smartphone/...)
  * Auditing of SCOM configuration without needing administrator access
  * Auditing of SCOM changes, including who has changed what configuration
when
  * out-of-the box trending on datawarehouse data
  *   Better auto-tuning thresholds
  *   Better network monitoring
  * Easy to use authoring of custom rules/monitors
  * Practical debugging of custom rules/monitors
  * Correlation of events! This needs to come if we want to give SCOM a real
chance of becoming a MoM (Manager of Managers).
  * FIX THE FOCUS BUG of the SCOM console
  *   etc...

What is this “3rd party html 5 dashboard solution for SCOM” you speak of?

Can you send a link to the list?

The 3rd party dashboard tool is a cool product. I used it to. Recently they
released making Visio schematics ‘live’ instantly

Subject: [msmom] SCOM Roadmap

Hi Everyone,

Recently, I had the opportunity to use 3rd party html 5 dashboard solution for
SCOM. It was so fast, useful and pleasant to play with that I realized how
broken SCOM is right now. What I liked about that product was how easy you can
browse performance metrics collected by SCOM and easily adjust the timeline
(last 7 days, 30 days last year). Well, many other things I liked but this
mail is not about promoting that product. This email is more for complaining
about SCOM ☹ !! I looked at the Teched 2014 sessions(System Center Operations
Manager: Monitoring in a Modern
World<http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/TechEd/Europe/2014/CDP-B347>) describing
where they are putting their effort and nothing about the aging Silverlight web
console replacement, nothing that looked major to me about SCOM. It looks to
me they are putting all their effort on Ops Insight and relies on 3rd party to
fill gaps with SCOM. I do get the importance of Ops Insight but I feel like
we are abandoned with SCOM while we still need improvements, and in some cases,
major ones.

Am I alone to feel that way ?
