Another method to fix the screen problem is to examine which devices can
wake the device from sleep, and remove that ability. For my wife's Surface
2, it was constantly turning the screen on when we weren't using it.
Seriously, every five minutes, it'd be on for 30 seconds. One night, the
Surface totally drained it's entire battery due to this.

I ran this command to see the last device that woke the screen, powercfg
/lastwake

To my surprise, it said USB Mouse. This was especially odd, given that no
mouse was plugged in.

I went to device manager, and found that there was a device listed with a
matching name. When I disabled its wake from sleep attribute in
properties, the system stopped turning on constantly.

If you don't get any luck with /lastwake, you can also use this
command: powercfg
/devicequery wake_from_any

Just look through the list and disable wake for each device you can live
without. If this STILL doesn't work, then disable Hybrid Sleep, which will
really keep your device from waking.
