And I have never rooted an android device so that puts me in the hole as far as
knowledge goes. Guess I need to really get started learning Linux!

Subject: Re: [NTSysADM] DD-WRT on Meraki router

My Meraki MR-12 is now in its last 30 days of Meraki approved existence..

So, I'll try and find some time in the next couple of months to get OpenWRT on
there.

OpenWRT is a bit more involved than DD-WRT, but it's not going to be much more
involved than rooting an Android device, from what I can see.

It appears OpenWRT needs to be loaded from a Linux box at least on
first reading that is how it appears. Also the Meraki instructions to me are
not as clear as if I went with DD-WRT. The Meraki units need a TFTP
server/client setup with an static IP address. Meraki really wanted to make it
hard to change things on the “free” units. Since the Meraki unit I have is not
yet supported…Not like the Linksys devices which will allow you to grab any BIN
to flash when you told it where to look. Since I have a very old WRT54G that I
retired after it stopped passing packs from inside to outside I will try
flashing that unit with DD-WRT and see if it starts working again.

What about it will be more trouble than its worth to go OpenWRT? I'm a
DD-WRT user, so I am unfamiliar with OpenWRT pitfalls.

Alright I finally got my model number and it is unsupported at this

It appears that DD-WRT works on some Meraki routers. But which build
is the question. I would have to do a little more research to find the model
number for the “free” one I have but has anyone used build 6999 20070508 on it?

        Thank you!
