HI Maria,
This is what I have done: LIST 1 = Workflow 1, with action Collect Data from User. Workflow Task LIST = Workflow 2, with action Send Email to user. Workflow 2 is fired every time a new item is created (by the action 1: Collect data from Your ) in Task List. The Workflow Task List has a field called "Workflow Item ID" which is a reference to List1 Item ID, You can then use Lookups using this field. I assumed that this is what you did: 1. Create workflow using action Collect Data From a User. The task ID will be saved in a variable called MyTaskID. 2. Create a new workflow using action Send an Email. In the email body, how can we reference the variable MyTaskID. Its not coming up in the list of workflow data. Regards, Maria. I solved this issue by creating another workflow on the Workflow Tasks List for the site. For every new item (task) created, I'm checking if it is related to list & performing the "Send Email" action in the new workflow. The first workflow will have only 1 action i.e. Collect Data from User Kind Regards, Ravi Nichani Consultant Fujitsu Australia Asia Pacific Web Solutions Centre Level 1, 410 Murray St, Perth WA 6000 Tel: +61 8 9268 1418 Fax: +61 8 9268 1531 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://au.fujitsu.com <http://au.fujitsu.com/> From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ann Ramos Sent: Monday, 13 October 2008 8:13 AM To: listserver@ozmoss.com Subject: [OzMOSS] Custom Workflow using SharePoint Designer Hi, We created a custom workflow using the SPD that uses the following actions: 1. Collect Data from a User 2. Send Email We noticed that action #1 automatically creates a task. We want to be able to include a link that will point to this task on action #2. We tried all the available variables in there but to no avail. We're trying it now using VS2005. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has ever tried creating something similar using SPD before we delve deeper into VS2005. Basically, the client needs just a simple email with a link to the actual task that they need to complete. They don't like the body of the email OOTB, they want to be able to specify the wordings themselves. Would really appreciate any ideas/thoughts on this one.
