Hi Pat,

I have taught 7th/8th struggling readers for years.  I have had success with
Sharon Draper's Double Dutch,  Crash by Jerry Spinelli, and they love the
Bluford High Series.  Go to www.townsendpress.com and you can order the 15 book
set for $15.  They are high interest, lower lever and a teacher resource for
questions/quizzes is also available.  My kids also enjoyed  Airball: My Life in
Briefs by L.D. Harkrader and the classic...The Outsiders.

Good Luck and have a great year.

Subject: [LIT] Need Book Recommendations Grades 7 & 8

I will be teaching students in grades 7 and 8 that are reading below grade
level. These are also students who do not find reading enjoyable.   I am
looking for recommendations of books with a lot of adventure and action. Books
that the kids can't put down.   I do a lot of the reading aloud with lots of
discussion so books can be on grade level.   Any suggestions?
