In Ann Arbor, Speak is the required freshman reading book! I find it a great book for these kids to read, as they are coming from so many different backgrounds, all over the community. 13 & 14 yr olds should definitely read this book, boys and girls, esp. since they are so vulnerable to the voices of the herd.
