Los Angeles Times | September 22, 2009 | 3:15 p.m. PT --- Update: Ventura County fire burns 1,500 acres A fast-moving brush fire has burned more than 1,500 acres in Ventura County, fueled by 50-mph wind gusts and high temperatures. More than 400 residents were evacuated from their homes as the fire ate through hilly farm and ranch land between Fillmore and Moorpark. More homes in subdivisions of Moorpark are threatened. Elsewhere, a large brush fire in Redlands is threatening structures near Sunset and Helen drives. Roads have been closed and evacuations ordered. Firefighters in the Norco area of Riverside County are battling a 120- to 150-acre blaze that they hope to contain this afternoon. Another brush fire was burning in Temecula. That fire had burned about five acres this afternoon but was not immediately threatening homes.
