If you got a little dirt in gas the needle will not seat correctly. You  have 
a pressure feed fuel pump. Sometimes when you shut off motor intake valve  
remains open The fuel then goes into the cylinders and works past the rings 
into 
 the crankcase. That is why your oil level is high. Check your tank if steel 
make  sure that there is no rust. If plastic check for dirt.
