We have found the best time to do the Chesapeake is from mid September to the
end of October. We generally head up to the head of the bay to Baltimore (more
accurately the Fells Point area and anchor right under Michael Felps' window.
in the little cove just east of Fells Point. You can see the back door of the
Dead End pub from the boat and it's about a ten minute walk to the Fells Point
center.
Then we wander southward for the next six weeks or so.
One of our favorites you don't hear much about is Reedville. We like the
Fairport Marina there. Crab all-you-can-eat on Sundays. Reservations
requested so they know how many crab to have on hand.
Many people go to Deltaville but there is nothing there that can be easily
walked to and the public transport is expensive and inconvenient. A better bet
would be nearby Urbana, an excellent walking town,
Jan says she loves the Bohemia River, just south of the C&D. One season on the
southbound we left Gloucester and kept going (about 48 hours) until we dropped
the hook in the Bohemia.

OTOH, we could talk about our cruising plans. Beginning in a couple of weeks
we plan to head up toward the Chesapeake Bay area and, then, toward the end of
'cane season, to head south in order to make our first Bahamas trip. Does
anyone out there have similar plans. We'd like to buddy boat with one or more
boats who have been there and done that. Anyone?
