Hi Philip & All,
They make laptops now that have built-in tuners for superior tv reception.
The LCD
screens, in general, are fabulous... akin to
flat-screen tvs. Gone are the days when
you have to put them up straight-on
to the eyes for limiting screen "not-spots."
You know, the spots where there's not a thing and you can't see! Even
watching at angles is cool now.
I have an HP 17" widescreen using Vista
(just for internet use). Vista is so clear I often reach out to touch the
Dairy Queen products in their commercials. LOL Hey, feels are good! The
Dells or HPs, etc. these days are wonderful, hard to go wrong.
Not sure what you're watching or if you have Cable, but if ya don't... ever
try Joost or Fancast (both are dot coms that show tv programs on demand).
Joost is free (simply sign up) and fabulous... Fancast and some others
(Amazon) will try to nickel and dime ya for what is already
over the internetwaves free of charge.
They are amazing sites with tens of
thousands of tv programs (golden oldies and movies too... all at a
zippidity-doo-dah nothing price!). You can pause, stop,
start over... watch any thing at any time
and at any place within the show. Like
having TVIO without the box or monthly fee.
Great forward technology all this, unlike analog, which is from an era
bygone. I have to do a double-take when I saw the A word. LOL
Love it all!
Bill and I are out and about. Been out
gunkholing the Keys the past two
weeks and it's glorious out here on Bayside. Even with the high winds (25
knots+) we're gently pitching in shallow waters (shallow for us, LOL) while
enjoying a break from the constant hum of the air conditioning.
Hope all is well with everyone. 'bella,
CT, Weinstein, all my other Lovelies...
good to be with yaz again. Good to see
new names and faces too. Diggin' it!
Hugs to all,
Charmaine

I am considering the purchase of a new laptop. Dell Latitude 17 is my
preference so far. Their 17" LED back lit screen seems to draw considerably
less power than the usual. Any one using their laptop for TV reception?
Recommendations on hardware/software or product to avoid would be
appreciated. Units that can receive NTC/PAL digital and analog?
Thanks,
Philip
