All,
I have been remiss in not responding sooner to all the folks who took the time
to write in response to my email(s) with the Subject: The Livaboard Lifestyle.
My assessment of the situation provoked many people to write, some in
agreement, some in disagreement, and some to fill in blanks and correct
misunderstandings. All the response was gratifying.
Especially appreciated were the views from people personally involved in law
enforcement on the water who wrote about their first-hand experiences,
something I value highly.
It was not my intention to start a discussion but to share my experiences with
a newby, so I did not respond to specific points to folks who took issue with
my descriptions of the situation. This was in part because many aspects of the
subject are opinions which change only slowly and usually due to one's own
personal experiences, but mostly because of the time involved (this email took
almost an hour to write). Between keeping Bandersnatch cared for and keeping
my elderly mother cared for (she cannot be left alone), and the two being 317
miles apart, my time and energy are largely already spoken for and discussions
about our lifestyle tend to be deep and wide.
I want you all to know I did read every word, trying hard to empathize with
each writers viewpoint. I am grateful for the enthusiastic response and wish
to thank all who took the time to express their thoughts.
The more folks involved, like pixels on a screen, the more detailed picture of
any situation we can see.
The List is an fantastic discussion group (and one of the cherished gems of my
life), filled with the wisdom and experiences of hundreds of people with
something fine and wonderful in common.
Thank you all...
Norm
