Ok guys...I got it, be quiet and keep your opinion to yourself..if they do not happen to agree with the Americans. :o) Give me a break. Someone said I "berated" Bella...come on now, I merely disagreed with her using political statements in her SIG line, and then tongue in cheek corrected her spelling and calling your former President Harry J Truman, instead of his actual name Harry S Truman. All said in a light hearted and, I thought, Humorous way, but I forgot something......dang Americans as a rule do not laugh about themselves. So as a result Bella started using slurs and name calling:
'the original whiner, it is to be noted has never commented again and his email shows he posted from Denmark..' What is wrong with this picture? I have an opinion, and I intend to have my say, without being called names. Political statements and so forth should be omitted from this list. That is part of the list rules. So am I to be insulted and what not because I mention something like that? What happened to FREE SPEECH people? I have had this happen before when we discussed the Gun issue..yep I had the audacity to mention something about Americans back then as well, and it was not well received, but what you are all doing is not helping your cause..learning about sailing and all related. What actually happens is that people who do not come from America leave the list. The liveaboard list is viewed as silly and "American" in its approach to life and cruising, and people from other countries post other places. Are you (Americans) so conceited that you believe that you have NOTHING to learn from the rest of the world. Bella you talk as if sailing was invented by Americans: "We boaters have the last bastion of true freedom ... we can get on our boats, just up and leave.. without so much as a by your leave...we don't have to ask permission, we don't have to tell anyone we are sailing down to norfolk from Baltimore.. we just leave our slip, raise our sails and go... that is Freedom.. and its brought to us on the backs of our ancestors who gave thier lives to see to it that we have a nation that gives us that freedom.." You Americans did not invent Cruising Bella. As you noticed I am Danish, so what, what does that have to do with anything? You mentioned it as if it was a defining piece of information. Yes I am Danish and...so what. Is that a point in my disfavor, and does that make me dumber or more ignorant. The first people to actually cross the Atlantic and "find" your great country were my ancestor Leif Erikson. We (the Danish) were sailing around the world before America was a nation. We are a seafaring nation and respected around the world for our knowledge of Maritime issues. I have a lot to contribute and I could help you a great deal, as well. I have sailed more than most of you, done Atlantic Crossing etc, and lived aboard for years....in places OTHER than America. I rarely post because of the treatment I receive when I do. Why should I bother...I'd rather be fishing. My point is this. If the liveaboard list want to be international, a place where people around the world can exchange viewpoints and information on sailing related issues, and thereby learn from each other, political statements in Signature lines should be omitted. Simple! Did you get it Bella...omitted. My opinion! By the way I saw that you changed the name to Harry S Truman, why don't you change the spelling mistakes while you are at it, and then lighten up and smile at your own silly mistake...it was actually quite funny, to have a American Patriot call the famous "S Truman" J Truman, and then quote him with spelling mistakes. Ahh humor don't you love it. At least do me a favor and stop calling me names, that is just plain rude. I meant no harm to you, I disagree with you but respect your right to have an opinion, do you offer me the same respect, and keep your opinion to yourself when you post in a non political forum. Regards John, Miami
