Norm's response to the thread on Bromine tablets in the AC strainer brought up another related question. My Yanmar saildrive has a raw water seacock that is a machining marvel in that the seats are machined so as not to use aby gasket or o rings on the seating surfaces. The problem is that it is too good for the application and I can not trust it to be fully closed because of the pressure required to seat it. I'd like to replace it with a ball valve but would need a short nipple to do so. Seems that bronze nipples are not made as all I can find in the local and online chandleries is brass. It would appear that I'd be changing one set of problems for another. Does anyone know of a source for bronze pipe?
