High quality/low cost solution: Linux + "xoscope" program + 1 stereo
plug + 2 resistors for a voltage divider. Total cost: about $3 if you
have to buy the plug and the resistors, free otherwise. If you want to
get really fancy (i.e., have an actual functioning audio-frequency
oscilloscope), you'd have to spend about $20 to build an input buffer
like this one:
