Dito on that... the anchorage to the immed south and east of the bridge..
just outside the channel into boot
key proper is most excellent...
last trip up to miami..we dropped the hook amid crab pots on the backside of
the the channel 5 bridge.. no one
but us...
don't know your depth.. but coming out of the channel 5 channel do not cut
the corners...

NO idea where in SW Fla you are..but one can make Boot Key from Cape Romano
in a LONG day sail...
use the Bullard bank light as one waypoint..

coming north from channel 5... Rodriguez Key another overnighter.... then
hit the west side of Key Biscayne.. you can
anchor outside No Name Harbor.. it gets a bit rolly about 4am what with the
charter boats going out but it is deep...
OR you can run across Biscayne Bay under the MacArthur Causeway bridge hang
a right into the watson key
anchorage... IF you want to avoid the bridges leave back out under the
MacArthur and out Gov't Cut... left/north past
Fort Liquordale and you are home free...
can I be jealous? great time of the year to be sailing in the keys... just
warm enough to comfortable and past the winter nasties...

It is currently 49 degrees here... (sighs....)

80% of the people of the US are depressed and the other 20% cause it!

It's not about the boat it's sails or rigging. It's about the freedom.

"We are the guardians of a great faith. When we believe that freedom offers
the best chance of peace and prosperity for all, and our desire for peace
cannot be seperated from our believe in liberty." Harry S. Truman

“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government
when it deserves it."
