Hi Lee,
Copper resistance goes up by about 0.4% per degree Centigrate.
I extrapolated 0.4 Ohms for 56 ft of 18AWG copper wire at 60 degrees Centigrate.
Yes your point taken on contact corrosion, contacts must be good. Not so clear
on how copper
gets brittle even if it cools slowly, but I will put it in the back of my head.
My point with all this is to encourage our readers to question all blanket
statements about safety.
Always make an effort to increase your knowledge about why things behave the
way they do.
