Be careful when buying from a marine consignment shop, they used to be
places to get good deals but in the last 15 or 20 years, not so much.

I recall looking for a wind generator recently, all across the US they
wanted up to 2/3 the cost of brand new, for old, obsolete, unsupported,
iffy generators! That just makes no sense. It seems that folks who bring
stuff in believe that if they just wait long enough, there is always a
sucker. Maybe they are right but folks like me won't buy then.

Instead what I did was I found a new still in box wind genny for 1/4th
the cost of manufactures list price on Amazon. Hard to beat. I think
with deals like that consignment shops are pricing themselves out of
business eventually.

At Bacons, years ago, they wanted 70% the cost of new for old, bent,
corroded hawspipe covers. I couldn't talk them down so I just bought
new. Some sucker prob bought those thinking it was a good deal.

Kinda reminds me of pawn shops nowadays.

Ebay can have some good deals though, and not all consingment shops are
like that, the one in ST. Augistine FL always had reasonable prices. -Ken
