Absolutely 100% right. However, it is not really practical given the 
legal troubles that would ensue to bring enough firepower to make it a 
much safer trip. So that just leaves staying away. Which could mean not 
going in the first place.

But the problem is then how to get around Africa. Its a long and 
sometimes 'wooly' way around the Cape.

Maybe if one was to follow the coast as they did but keep going south 
and then come north it might lessen the risk while not adding nearly the 
distance as rounding the Cape would.

As far as the Carib. yeah it's nice, but the world has so much more to 
offer than just that.-Ken
