That would pretty much be the point, yes... Note tracking filters are  
a fairly common thing on older analog synths.

Here's one example with both LPF and HPF, note the frequency controls  
in "harmonic number" units:

You ain't seen over-complicating yet... the maximum so far is one  
switch and one knob added to tweak an existing parameter (filter  
frequency). Adding something comparable in any other place would  
probably be a lot more complicated :)
