ZynAddSubFx is now included using a git submodule. And what you are experiencing is one of the main reasons against using submodules. Sadly, any good advice has been broadly ignored, and now we have it, breaking for example dobey's daily builds from his PPA, and introducing a new weird step for every innocent one who tries to clone and build lmms:
git submodule update --init --recursive You'll have to run this after cloning.
