I already said this elsewhere, but a quick recap: - online and local resources shouldn't be mixed - all online stuff should be separated in their own tab - the current sidebar has much better separation of resources (separate tabs for presets, projects, home, etc. not everything in the same tab/window) >From what I remember, the same menu that's in the screenshots was also in the old master, although I can't verify this because my build of old master refuses to start up now for some reason... >> - We have to ensure that web searches do not slow down the software... >> there needs to be a proper separation of online/local because not >> everyone has super fast internet connections > That's why the index/resource-DB is downloaded locally and all > search/filter operations (as seen in the screenshots) happen locally > only. But that potentially causes a wait time at startup... I think it would be preferable that the index would only be downloaded when the user asks for online resources, ie. when the online tab is clicked for the first time. Separate all online resources in their own tab in the sidebar, and only load the index for them when the tab is clicked. That'd be the best way to handle this IMO, so people who don't want or need online functionality can just ignore its existence. > > This still can be done in background and wouldn't disturb anyony.
