Create instrument tracks with an AudioFileProcessor plugin without a sample. 
Enable MIDI out for it and set the according MIDI channel. For the VST 
instrument track, enable MIDI input for all MIDI channels. That's it :) You 
should be able to edit note patterns on the AudioFileProcessor tracks.
