No - MMPZ is just compressed XML. Starting with LMMS 0.5 we will have a new 
project file format based on the new Resource framework. Then projects always 
will be saved as a zip file (although different extension) and include an XML 
file and data files. The XML file will describe the structure of the project 
(but not include any settings) and reference presets, samples etc. which can 
be stored in the project file as well. Alternatively one can upload the 
referenced files to LSP and LMMS automatically can download them into your 
local resource collection (if they do not already exist there).
