9.10 has only LMMS 0.4.5. I'm not aware of any live distro that includes 0.4.6 yet. But there's no reason he couldn't make a USB key of 9.10, boot to it, and install the 0.4.6 package from the PPA. That was how I evaluated LMMS 0.4.4 back when I was running Mandriva 2007 or something like that (but using Ubuntu 8.10 on the USB key). Probably faster than a CD-based live distro, as well.
