Yes the USB drive idea sounds best for this, thanks!  I knew ubuntu studio's
karmic live CD had a newer lmms than my jaunty system, but wasn't sure if some
other distro was even more cutting edge.  So I'll start with US karmic, install
to USB drive, upgrade lmms to 0.4.6, and test out my projects.

This makes me realize linux potential for music even more.  To collaborate with
other artists, we can put projects on live CDr+w or usb drive.  Then if it
works, I know all my samples are accounted for and any partner can work on it no
matter what the OS or app version or folder organization on his system.
