I actually think its fine the way it is since apps (incl app containers) have
the ability to switch off the shutdown hook. If desirable/requested we can
provide a programmatic api for apps/app containers to decide the exact timing
of log4j2 shutdown processing. If, say, TomcatEE would approach us and say "we
need this because we're thinking of migrating" then that would be a good time
to have a conversation on what that api should look like.
