basically you're right. One the one hand waste of resources is true, but on
the other hand you get (at least a litle bit) simplicity of installation
(someone can't forget to copy the log4j.dtd :-)

and the DTD is available on the jakarta web site:
http://jakarta.apache.org/log4j/javadoc/org/apache/log4j/xml/doc-files/log4j
.dtd

Hi Oliver,

Unfortunately, log4j.dtd is not available at the jakarta web-site. We could
of course easily remedy that. However, what would be the benefits of getting
the log4j.dtd from the web? Wouldn't it be a waste of resources? An
explanation is most welcome. Ceki
