LogKit 1.0 Beta 2

Hi,

Can anyone explain the relationship between Log4J and LogKit? They are
both Apache projects (LogKit is part of the Avalon project:
http://jakarta.apache.org/avalon/logkit/whitepaper.html) and the APIs
look very similar and the philosophy sounds similar too.
