Subject of mail sent by SMTPAppender

Is there a way to have the SMTPAppender send a mail with the subject being 
the log message?

I would only add a method to SMTPAppender for setting this behavior. The 
existing setSubject would allow to add a prefix, such as "[ApplicationAlert]".

Should I submit a patch, or there is already something that does it?
