Hello!
I have last official release of Log4J 1.1.3 from its site.
There is only private method extractOption in PatternParser class.
(You can make sure in it, if you do the same)
That's why I wrote in developer-list about it. After getting your letter,
I looked into CVS Repositories and saw that extractOption really
became protected not long ago,
but there is no one (only private as I said above) in public release
(version 1.1.3) now.
Please, tell me when I can expect a new release of Log4J.
(It's very important for me, cause I use my extension of Log4J in my custom
jsp tag library
and I'm going to contribute it in the nearest future.)

P.S.
I like to thank you, Paul for
first: very good article "Adding Conversion Characters to PatternLayout" and
example AppServer.
second: for undestanding and spending your time on my problem,
cause I've seen that people haven't caught my problem and suggestion and
forward me to wrong way, till your letter.
