Sridhar,

It occurs to me that you need to create a Priority subclass, where the
integer value of the object is 0. If you do this, and set the string
value to OFF, it should work okay it would seem. I have a number of
custom Priority levels, each with their own integer values and strings,
and they all work great.

Subject: Effective level of a Logger

Hi,

I am trying to set the Level of a logger to be OFF (i.e., I want to turn
off logging to a particular appender). But some how it changes to a
DEBUG. I have noticed this only with level OFF ( WARN, INFO and DEBUG
work fine).

I am wondering is anyone has seen this behavior.

I am using Log4j version 1.1.3

Many Thanks

Sridhar
