Forgive me for an off-topic question, but I'm not sure where else to ask this question:
Log4J is a great replacement for JDK 1.4 logging facility. I started using JDK 1.4, and realized it was not as flexible as I would like, so we started using Log4J instead. Is there an equivalent replacement API for the proposed Preferences API (java.util.prefs) for JDK 1.4? It is a pretty poorly written API, in my estimation.
