Ah-ha! I'd missed resetConfiguration()

Does anyone know if this actually stops the watch thread started from 
configureAndWatch() ?

Wy not use resetConfiguration method- then use  either doConfigure or
PropertyConfigurator.configure("myConfFile")

I believe that overrides the
PropertyConfigurator.configureAndWatch("myConfFile", 1000)
