Despite the offensiveness of the language, there is a good point hidden in there.

Is there a log4j "shadow" jar which contains only barebones code that only ensures 
that the code compiles? This would be useful when using log4j in applets during 
development. One doesn't want to have to deploy log4j across potentially slow 
connections once development has ended. 345k is not nothing for an applet. So is there 
some sort of minimal 5k-or-so jar that has the same interface but does nothing?

It might be interesting, but even though I consider my english almost 
readable, I'm getting offended by this guy attitude. Not the points he 
is trying to make (in fact I agree with him on most), but the way he is
