The coming weekend - including the German holiday on Monday - is going

[1] Google translates this is "stag party" which I think is badly wrong.
A Polterabend is a party organized by both people who are going to
marry each other for all their friends and the neighborhood.
Traditionally guests bring along old dishes and cups and so on in
order to break them at the pair's doorway as "Scherben bringen
Glück" a German saying that translates to "broken crockery brings
you luck" and likely doesn't mean anything in English.
