The problem is that I volunteered to digitise Beowulf for Project Gutenberg.
My OCR software doesn't recognise the font my copy is printed in and even if
it did, it wouldn't recognise some of the characters. I need to know how to
type those characters, preferably on a UK keyboard in Linux and emacs, but
at a push I could be persuaded to learn an Icelandic keymapping. Oh, and I
would *like* to find a character set which will work on *nix, Windows, Palm,
and Mac. Some brief experimentation has shown me that Mac support for 8859-1
is ropey. Well, either that or paulm's copy of Eudora is telling porkies.
