ISTR that exim could only open up a single SMTP stream when delivering
mail .. errr but I could be wrong .. (frequently am). certainly when demon
swapped from Sendmail to exim you could originally get up to around 6
incoming SMTP streams with sendmail .. but only 1 with exim .. but this
could be a config thing .. or I could be talking rubbish.
