UNIX .. UNIX is a trademark of Bell Laborotories. UNIX is not an acronym,
but a weak pun on MULTICS, the OS worked on by Thompson and Ritchie
before UNIX ....
so sayeth Kernighan and Pike and they use UNIX throughout the book ..
