Hack Perl. I know someone who does this: he feels justified in using the
time that Perl saved in his job to hack Perl. (As in, "I would have needed 3
days to do this conventionally. Perl did it in half a day. But since you
would have paid for three days, I can spend 2.5 days giving work back to
Perl.")
