I tend to avoid agency drinking nights as they seem to consist of besuited
18 year old agents getting far too drunk and pretending to be my friend by
talking about football and telling sexist jokes. This is very close to my
idea of hell[1].

They've found me a couple of good contracts in the past and, what's even
better, they seem to listen when I said "no, I don't want you to see me as
Sybase/Unix/C resource any more - my skillset has moved on considerably in
the last five years".

[1] Actually I've just remembered a worse kind. The one that decide that
they'll entertain "the boys" by getting some of "the girls" from the office
to come along in short skirts, listen to the football talk and laugh at the
sexist jokes.
