M$ will not pull out of AS, for one simple reason. Perl, Python and
Tcl are not Java. And Java is one of their biggest threats to date.
After all if Java continues and becomes even more de facto, those
nasty people at Sun/Java organisations (read Sun) will start defining
standard APIs for all sorts of awkward things. Such as large scale user
authentication systems, etc.

I am pretty sure they'd rather see VBS/C# or whatever being pushed, or
even M$ Perl (which isn't going to happen despite the worries of the
more paranoid members of the Perl community) rather than Perl, Python
or Tcl, but at the end of the day anything that dents Java is good
in their eyes.

However having said all that, I still don't really see a sound
business model behind AS.
