IIRC, it's konateco in Esperanto (koni => to know (person/thing), konata
=> present passive participle "being known" or well known, konateco =>
quality of being well known, aka "thing-ness").

Notoriety in English has a negative connotation. Fame has a positive
connotation and also lies at the extreme, rather than the neutrality of
well-known-ness. All the English words I can think of like this, e.g.
renown, reputation, acclaim confer some value judgement.

Oh well, perhaps Esperanto has the succinct expressive upperhand here :-)
