l...@linuxcon: September 21-23, 2009 (Portland, Oregon)

(Sacramento, CA, USA: August 20, 2009) - The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced that they will offer LPI exams
at the first annual LinuxCon on Monday, September 21, 2009 in
Portland, Oregon. During LinuxCon LPI will also host a community
consultation on their Linux certification program on Tuesday September
22, 2009.

"LPI has worked very closely with the Linux Foundation to promote the
growth and adoption of Linux so we are pleased to be co-locating events
at LinuxCon. Our collective organizations work diligently to
understand the needs and aspirations of the Linux and Open Source
community. As LPI marks its 10th Anniversary in September this event is
a natural fit for us," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI. Mr.
Lacey added that he looks forward to broad input from industry
representatives and Linux professionals during LinuxCon and that he is
particularly interested in feedback on how LPI could further
professional workforce development initiatives within the Linux community.

All three levels of LPI certification (LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3) will
be offered at LinuxCon on Monday September 21st at 8:00 a.m., 10 a.m.,
12 noon, and 2:00 p.m. Certification testing will be offered at the
promotional rate of $99--—a savings of over $60 per exam. Pricing for
the LPIC-3 certification exam (LPI-301) is $199--again a savings of over
$60 from regular pricing.

To participate in the exam labs candidates may register online on the
LinuxCon registration form (or onsite at Registration). Please also note
that before taking the exam candidates will need to register for an LPI
ID at: https://www.lpi.org/caf/Xamman/register

All LinuxCon attendees are welcome to participate in LPI's "Technical
Advisory Committee" (TAC) meeting on Tuesday September 22, 2009, 5:30
p.m. at the Portland Marriott Hotel (Downtown Waterfront). LPI's exams
are created through a transparent community process involving
consultations with industry, training organizations and IT professionals
from around the world. Part of this process includes open meetings at
major IT events in various regions. LPI is pleased to host such an
event at LinuxCon and invites all interested IT professionals and
interested industry representatives to attend and provide feedback on
LPI's certification program.

This event will be facilitated by Dr. James Stanger, chairperson of
LPI's Strategic Advisory Committee and will include a brief overview of
LPI's exam development process by G.Matthew Rice, LPI's director of
product development.
